What are the Different Types of Online Coaching?

What is online coaching?

Before we look at the different types of online coaching, let us start at the beginning and define coaching: The primary purpose of coaching is to unlock and expose a person or team’s potential to accelerate and maximize their own performance. In essence, the purpose of a coach is to transform the team or individual. Coaching is performance-driven, taking you from where you are now to where you need to be.

What principle is online coaching rooted in?

We are all different people with varying morals, values and goals. Although we all live unique lives, at the end of each day- our innermost want, need and goal is the same. HAPPINESS, HEALTH & PEACE.

We all want to be happy, healthy and feel peace and harmony. When we feel happiness, we feel at peace, content and complete; our lives feel balanced, controlled and worth living. Why then do we not live our lives in a way that will enable us to achieve this universal but very basic want, need and goal? This is where online coaches can help us with a plan, actionable steps and accountability.

Living a healthy, mindful and balanced lifestyle means to live your life to the fullest. It means taking responsibility for the way you live your life. It means taking healthy action towards achieving your goals, and in doing so, achieving that innermost goal we all retain, HAPPINESS and PEACE.

Why do we need coaches?

Online coaches help us accelerate change and boost performance in different areas of our lives. They help us identify our goals and develop an actionable plan to achieve them in order to improve our day-to-day life and reach our full potential. The key is know which coach to use and to find a style and approach that suits your needs. Seeking help or guidance in the wrong area can prove to not be help at all.

So, what are the different types of Online Coaches and what is their function?

Employee Wellness Coach:

Works one-on-one with employees to educate, guide and counsel individuals within a company and workspace using a variety of techniques. A change in employee health can have a positive effect on corporate culture; in turn, helping the employee and the company they work for. Content and motivated employees strive to achieve and perform better than those that are unhappy and unmotivated. Employee Wellness programs are vitally important for a healthy company environment. Everyone wins.

Life Coach:

Helps us identify our goals and develop an actionable plan to achieve them to improve our day-to-day life and reach our full potential. A life coach is someone who will objectively empower you to be the best version of yourself, while walking alongside you, encouraging you and keeping you accountable. Their sole purpose is helping you to achieve your life’s goals and dreams.

Maternity Coach:

Supports you as you make the transition first from a professional career woman to new mother and then to working mother, with all the juggling and unknown that entails. This is a new field of coaching but with great benefits. Having a baby and maintaining a successful career can, and very often is, be a struggle for most new mothers. Maternity coaching will help new mothers understand how to combine both motherhood and still advance in their career, building the bridge between both. The transition can be daunting for pregnant and new mothers creating a lot of anxiety in many women. Maternity coaching helps relieve the stress and pressure, giving new moms guidance and helping empower them in both areas of their lives.

A maternity coach will help you understand and prepare for your maternity leave and provide you with sound advice and tools to deal with any challenges you might face: as a new mother and when you return to work.

Parenting Coach:

Helps parents overcome parenting challenges by providing guidance, tools and strategies. This helps us overcome our weaknesses and become the parents we aspire to be. A parenting coach, instead of diagnosing mental health conditions, helps parents to navigate challenges they may be facing within their family, with their children and their parenting style. They focus on helping parents and children to improve their relationship and family units. They help with behavioural issues, a crisis or transition, miscommunication and lack of communication, parent-related stress, developmental challenges and more.

Sleep Coach:

Provides comprehensive sleep solutions and techniques to families and individuals, so that good sleep habits can be developed. Sleep coaches are often identified only for babies and children, but this should not be the case. Many adults would benefit from the guidance of a sleep coach. Their purpose is to help you create an environment and personal goals to help improve your sleep performance and body recovery while sleeping. A sleep coach teaches you the importance of having a stress-free, restful sleep experience and how it will improve every aspect of your life, physical health, and mental health.

Wellness Coach:

Helps empower you to meet your well-being and health goals by assessing your current physical and emotional state and what you want to achieve in your overall wellness and health. The full extent of a wellness coach is journeying with an individual and helping them realise the dreams and goals they have for their health and life while helping create long-term strategies around those dreams and goals with the result being how to achieve them. A wellness coach’s goal is to empower you to be the best version of yourself, in all aspects of your life: from your physical health to your mental health and your goal achievements. Your overall well-being is their coaching priority.

Business Coach:

Will assist and guide the business owner in running a business by helping them clarify the vision of their business and how it fits in with their personal goals. Business coaching is a process used to take a business from where it is now to where the business owner wants it to be. A business coach will help a business owner to find their strengths and weaknesses while understanding their business from many different perspectives, helping pivot the business and explore new areas and dimensions.

Business is constantly evolving, and business owners need to stay current, constantly moving with the changing tides. A business coach will give an owner the guidance and assurance of how to move along with an ever-changing world and, therefore, business. We see too often a business not moving and growing with the changes of the times and therefore unable to keep their business alive and current. By having a business coach, they will constantly be helping the owner to navigate through these changes and helping streamline more efficient business practices.

Intimacy Coach:

Helps people deepen the connection with their partners. They work with individuals or couples in assisting their clients with problems surrounding emotional intimacy or physical intimacy. An intimacy coach’s main focus is bringing a couple together, helping individuals to feel safer and more comfortable being close to an intimate partner.

Relationship Coach:

Supports individuals and couples in learning vital skills for relating. Relationship coaches teach you to develop conflict resolution skills and offer tools to deepen intimacy as well as helping couples to create opportunities for good communication. A relationship coach looks for ways for you to find healing and strength in your relationship by helping you both understand one another better.

Coaching is a powerful tool that will help you to become the best version of yourself. A coach’s aim is to enable you and to equip you with the tools you need to understand how best to navigate the season you are in and experiencing. They can look at your situation objectively, giving you the best roadmap of how to create what it is you are needing at each stage of your life. They will coach you in these areas of your life to enable you to be the best performer while finding enjoyment and happiness along the way. Online coaching is vitally important to how the world has changed and is changing. The question is, ‘is online coaching for you?’
